
Repsol holds a 75% share of CANAPORT LNG, together with Irving Oil (25%), and also owns 100% of the regasification rights. This is the first regasification terminal on the West coast of Canada and it will cater for the natural gas demand of Eastern Canada and the Northeastern USA markets.
The CANAPORT terminal is in Saint John, New Brunswick and occuppies a 20-hectare plot. It has three full containment tanks, each with a160 000 m3 capacity; the design includes enough space to build other two additional tanks. The berth can accommodate vessels of up to 250,000 m3 and has four 20-inches unloading arms. For LNG regasification, there are 8 submerged combustion vaporizers (one as a reserve) with a joint capacity of 1,240,000 N m3/h.
The plant received it first cargo in June 2009.
