The acronym LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas.
In liquid status, natural gas (mainly methane) occupies 600 times less volume, and for this, its temperature is reduced to -160ºC and it is transported at atmospheric pressure in methane carriers.
This mode of transport is the cheapest when transporting to destinations located more than 4.000 km away, a distance beyond which the building of a gas pipe is not profitable.
